The reality of twins

It's really not just kids, it really a whole operation. Meals to be planned, portions accurately measured and mixed, feedings given, diapers assessed and replaced, it just goes on and on.

Here's a little peek behind the curtain. Here is the actual tracking report for yesterday, June 7th. A little background:

  • Last night was Suzanne's shift
  • I had taken the shift the night before. Julia slept for 6 1/2 hours straight from 1 am to 7:30 am
  • Lauren decided that this night was her night that she needed to sleep with her mommy

The key part to focus on is the Sunday section at the bottom of the page:

  • Julia eats at 12:30am. "Eats at" means starting at, so depending on how long a feeding takes it could got to 1:00 or 1:15.
  • Ella eats at 1am. Kind of an anomaly for her, going about 4 hours since her last meal, since she is usually locked in at the 3 hour schedule she learned at the NICU. But don't look for that timing to hold!
  • Julia eats at 2:45 am. Definitely a quick turnaround for Julia, who is usually our big eater.
  • Ella eats at 3:30 am.
  • Julia eats at 4:30. All notions of a "schedule" are now out the window! Julia eats a total of 9 1/2 ozs in just 4 hours. Oh well, she's ready for a long nap in the morning!
  • The kicker: Poop at 4:30. Miss Lauren covers her nose with her B. About 15 minutes later she decides to sleep in her own bed!

Wow! I'm tired just looking at that schedule!! The babies are so cute and big now. I hope Julia's tummy feels better now that she is on the most expensive formula. Hopefully that isn't her same need with shoes and clothes!
I miss you guys and cant wait to see all of you.
